The House of the Volcanoes will be built based on three existing buildings, which are related to vine plantation, thus becoming one single space, capable of responding to the intended program. The most important factor of the intervention was the attention given to its scale, given that the ensemble of the three cellars and yard stands on a very fragile balance, which change could be irreversible. Because it is located in an area classified as Patrimony of Humanity, to this first factor was added the need to use an architectonic language that would relate in the best possible way with the context. From this presupposition, the design of the building appeared from the connection between the three buildings through the modulation of the topography in a way it would not interfere with the magnificent visual relation of the yard with the mountain. The connection between these three buildings will be made by a reinforced cement structure which will unify all the rooms in the building and will be build in the space corresponding to the interior of the double masonry in existing basalt. We have only created a new volume, as extension of the building located west of the plot, which reframes and accentuates the perspective on the mountain. While the existing buildings will stay at their present level, although in some points absorbed by the modulation of the land, as if they had been caught by the lava, this new volume will be built on the land, assuming the fact of its posterior implantation in relation to the existing ensemble.
