The project concerns the remodelling of a building of the 70’, in Setúbal, which interior space, characterized by several small rooms, is not adequate to what it is wanted. It was then decided to open three compartments in the social area of the apartment, transforming them into a large leisure area, to which were added the living-room, the dinning–room and the kitchen. It was possible to obtain a more comfortable area, creating an harmonious ambience between spaces with distinct functions. The kitchen bench was designed in such way it could be inserted between rooms in a natural and adequate way, using for this purpose the same material and furniture details in the sitting and dinning areas. Associated to the kitchen bench we designed a set of panels, from the entry hall, which would allow gathering the new space of the house to its older part. This set of panels has also allowed to keep one of the rooms together with the bathroom and turning them into a suite, solving the old opening in the bathroom and keep part of the kitchen bench, creating a spatial continuity between the hall and the social area of the apartment.
